The Alberta based ASSOCIATION OF ALBERTA YOUTH BASKETBALL CLUBS (AYBC) has been established as a representative body of youth basketball clubs in Alberta. The Association was formed to enhance and promote the development of elite athletes through club basketball organizations.
The club movement is now a recognized major component in youth basketball development, and it is growing. The forming of our association marks a new era in the progression of basketball in our province. AYBC is an independent organization and clubs are currently registering for the 2010 season. With over 75 member clubs we expect to represent over 750 advanced athletes this year. We are proud that our member clubs have attracted not only a large number of talented athletes, but an impressive number of the top basketball players in Alberta. This is happening because of the ability of our member clubs to deliver quality developmental programs to athletes. Alberta clubs are meeting the requests, interests, and requirements of today's basketball players as the sport continues to develop. AYBC will provide our member clubs with insurance arrangements and provide a tournament coordination service. In addition, the formation of our organization enables clubs to have a stronger voice in our communities by being part of a larger body made up of those with common interests.
We look forward to working in cooperation with other basketball organizations and those interested in the advancement of basketball. We are excited about the work of our association and the people who have joined us in this important undertaking. Our executive members have extensive experience in the sport of basketball as high level coaches, athletic program managers, and successful business people. We are confident in our ability to produce significant results for the benefit of young basketball players.
AYBC Mission Statement:
AYBC was formed to promote and assist youth basketball clubs by providing:
- A centralized voice for all Club members
- An informational database for all Club Members
- A communication vehicle to announce Club activities to all basketball stakeholders
- Guidance for setting up and running basketball clubs
Recruitment:
Note AYBC now supports the following position on recruitment of coaches and players from other clubs as directed from the membership:
"For the long term health and prosperity of Club Basketball in Alberta, Clubs will operate within the Spirit and Integrity of the game as well as in Cooperation with regards to the continued growth and success of all clubs."
